AVA Annual Meeting – March 28, 2017

AVA ANNUAL MEETING

When:     March 28, 2017 @ 12:15 PM

Where:    Tucson Marriott University Park

Pima Room

As you probably know by now, OVW has chosen March 28-29, 2017 for the upcoming annual STOP conference to be held in Tucson, Arizona.  ALSO recently distributed information regarding the location and registration.  If you did not receive that information, please email me and I will forward it to you.

AVA’s Annual Meeting

As has become our tradition, AVA will be holding our annual meeting during the STOP conference.  ALSO has released a draft agenda that shows a lunch break from 12:15 -2:00 on March 28th.  We will hold our meeting during that break – yes we will be providing lunch!!

The AVA meeting is open to both member and non-member states and territories. We will discuss our accomplishments during this past year and will ask for your recommendations as to AVA’s goals for 2017. This will help us to better meet your needs.  National conversations regarding VAWA reauthorization are gearing up so we especially need to hear from you about strengths and weaknesses in the current legislation and how that impacts your ability to do this work.  If you have more than one person from your state attending, you are both welcome.  No formal registration is necessary for the AVA meeting but please respond to this email to let me know if you and/or your staff person will be joining us so we’ll have adequate seating and an accurate headcount for ordering the food. You will receive a confirming email that we’ll be expecting you.

AVA Board of Directors and Elections:

We will also be holding elections during this meeting to fill vacancies on the AVA board of directors.  The board members are elected for a 2-year term with half of the board seats up for re-election each year.  This year there are five vacancies.  I’m happy to provide you with additional information regarding the time commitment if you’re interested in running for the board. You don’t have to have years of experience with the STOP program to join the board as the opinions and views from new and seasoned administrators are both helpful.

I look forward to seeing you all in Tucson in the spring!!
